How to import Gmail contacts to Sheetify CRM? Step-by-step

Bringing your Gmail contacts into Sheetify CRM is quick and seamless, and the best part is that it doesn’t require any coding skills whatsoever!

The first step is to enable the ‘Gmail labels’ feature within Sheetify CRM. To do this:

  1. Open your Sheetify CRM template.
  2. Click the ‘Contacts & Leads’ sheet.
  3. From the top menu, click ‘Sheetify’ then ‘Import Contacts’ from the drop-down list.
  4. Click ‘Set up Gmail labels’.

A confirmation message will then appear, stating, ‘Sheetify email labels have been created.’

  1. Click ‘OK’ to continue.
  2. Next, you must add your contacts to the new Sheetify label inside your connected Gmail account. To do that:
  3. Log in to your Gmail account (the account associated with your Sheetify CRM template).
  4. You should now notice a new ‘Sheetify’ label on the left-hand sidebar.
  5. Click the little arrow next to the ‘Sheetify’ label to view two sub-labels ( and ‘Import’).
  6. Simply drag and drop the ‘Import’ sub-label directly onto the email conversation of the contact you want to add to Sheetify CRM.
  7. Or open the email, click ‘Labels’ at the top of the screen, and then ‘Apply’.
  8. Click the ‘Import’ label to view these emails if you like.
  • Note: You can follow this process to add as many contacts to Google Sheets as you like.
  • Once inside the ‘Sheetify/Import’ label, those emails are now marked as ready to be imported into your Sheetify CRM template.

So, how can you import these Gmail contacts into Sheetify CRM?

  1. Go back to your Google Sheets Sheetify CRM template.
  2. Under the ‘Contacts and Leads’ sheet, click ‘Sheetify’ in the top menu.
  3. Select ‘Import Contacts’, then click ‘Import Labeled Gmail Contacts’.
  4. A confirmation message (e.g., ‘3 new contacts imported’) will then appear!
  5. Click ‘OK’.

And that’s it! You should now see your imported contact data from your chosen email conversations directly inside your Sheetify CRM Contacts & Leads sheet.

With these steps, your Gmail contacts flow directly into Sheetify CRM, giving you an organized, ready-to-use contact list without the manual copy-pasting. It’s that easy!

Once you’ve successfully imported your Gmail contact to Sheetify CRM, the email will automatically move from the ‘Sheetify/Import’ to ‘Sheetify ✅’ label.

How to import Gmail contacts to Google Sheets? Alternative methods

Sheetify CRM is undoubtedly the easiest and most efficient way to import your Gmail contacts into Google Sheets.

However, it’s not the only option! There are a couple of other methods you could try to get a similar result:

Export from Google Contacts and upload to Sheets (Method 1)

Open Google Contacts.

On the left sidebar, click ‘Export’.

Choose ‘Google CSV’ (best for Google Sheets).

Download the file.

Your Google contacts will now appear inside a new spreadsheet.

While this method is relatively straightforward, it’s pretty manual. Plus, your contacts must be loaded inside Google Contacts for it to work, which kind of defeats the purpose!

Use Google Apps Script for automatic sync (Method 2)

Open a new Google Sheet.

Click ‘Extensions > Apps Script’ from the top menu.

Paste the appropriate code into the editor.

Click ‘Save > Run > Grant permissions’.

Once set up, your Gmail contacts will automatically populate into your Sheet.

The downside? It’s quite technical! I only recommend this method for those already comfortable working with code and Apps Script.
